J.W. Lees Harvest Ale Matured in Sherry Casks 2006
Nothing short of amazing. This beer evolves on the palate like a fine wine. Aromas of figs, candied fruit, and vanilla. Up front there are flavors of mandarin orange, apple brandy, raisins, vanilla and toffee, just to name a few. On the finish the figs come back again strong. Superbly done.
This beer is part of a series that J.W. Lees does once per year, and this version was aged in used Sherry casks. This is a vintage beer and will age well and develop for several years. The sweetness level and strength (11.5% alcohol) make this beer best as an after dinner drink.
