Another beer in J.W. Lees' Harvest Ale series. The Harvest Ale is their vintage barleywine, and this version is aged in Calvados casks to add complexity. Calvados is a region in Normandy that makes apple brandy.
This beer is sweet and rich, with flavors of apple brandy (of course), orange, figs, raisins, and a maple syrup finish. This beer can be aged for many years and will will soften and gain complexity over the years, if stored properly.
