Clement Klur Gentil de Katz Alsace 2007
Equal parts Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc and Riesling. It is a blend created by the great Johnny Hugel and now enjoys its own AOC. Made from vines with an average age of 30 years, it has an inviting floral nose and elegant fruit flavours with background notes of lychees and Turkish delight. The Katz, by the way, is because the vineyards are situated in Katzenthal – the valley of the cats – and sure enough there are three cats at the house to greet you – one named Gentil. Clément Klur makes all his wine biodynamically and organically – a selling point for some; but we stock it solely because of its stunning quality.
Organically grown with biodynamic practices, this wine is a blend of three noble grapes from Alsace. Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Riesling, in equal parts, combine to make a rich medium/ full bodied that stars out floral and fruity and end dry with a spicy note.
