Allagash Interlude 750ml
The first in Allagash's Serie d'Origine. Allagash has gained a reputation for making fantastic Belgian ales. Now they are moving on the next step - experimenting with the style and making new beers that even the Belgian brewers don't make. Here is the result.
Allagash Interlude starts out as a regular Belgian strong ale, brewed both with Belgian yeast strains and Allagash's own house yeast. Then the ale is aged in Merlot and Syrah oak barrels, giving the beer a distinctly wine-like quality. The oak also imparts some tannins in the beer.
Aromas of dried apricot, bread, and pear continue on the palate, where wine-like flavors appear in the background. This beer would pair well with stews, blue cheese, or burgers.
